The Dolomites of northeastern Italy are unlike any other mountain range on Earth. These UNESCO World Heritage peaks, composed of ancient coral reef limestone, rise from green meadows and dark forests in vertical towers, pinnacles, and massive walls that glow with an ethereal pink light at dawn and dusk - the famous "enrosadira" phenomenon.
This collection showcases the most iconic locations in the Dolomites, from the legendary Tre Cime di Lavaredo to the dramatic spires of the Odle Group visible from Seceda. Each photograph captures the unique character of these mountains - their impossible verticality, their warm-toned rock faces, and the dramatic contrast they create against alpine meadows and ancient forests.
The Tre Cime di Lavaredo, perhaps the most famous formation in the Dolomites, appears in several images captured during different seasons and conditions. These three towering peaks, standing like massive chimneys against the sky, have drawn climbers and photographers for over a century. I've spent countless nights at the Rifugio Locatelli, waiting for the perfect conditions to capture these iconic towers.
The Val di Funes and its famous church of Santa Maddalena, backdropped by the jagged Odle peaks, represents another classic Dolomite scene. The juxtaposition of pastoral farmland, traditional Tyrolean architecture, and otherworldly mountain spires creates images that seem almost too perfect to be real.
Beyond these famous viewpoints, this collection explores lesser-known corners of the Dolomites - the remote Puez-Odle plateau, the dramatic Cinque Torri, and the serene shores of Lago di Braies. Each location offers its own unique character while sharing the distinctive Dolomite aesthetic that makes these mountains so photographically compelling.
The Dolomites also offer exceptional autumn photography opportunities, when the larch forests transform into seas of gold beneath the pale rock towers. This golden light, combined with the warm tones of the dolomite rock at sunset, creates color harmonies that are uniquely beautiful.
All prints are produced on museum-grade archival materials, with each piece individually inspected and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity.
